Pharmacy Thechnicians

As a Pharmacy Technician you will be assisting licensed pharmacists to provide the means for comfort and healing to men, women and children every day.  More and more pharmacies are giving their technicians increased responsibility, which means that formally trained, certified individuals are in much higher demand than in the past. If you would describe yourself as alert, observant, organized, dedicated and dependable, a career in the Pharmacy field is for you!

As health care professionals, Pharmacy Technicians have varying responsibilities.  Some of those include, but are not limited to, preparing and filling prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist, issuing medicine, labeling/storing supplies, and preparing IV solutions. With more and more Pharmacists doing patient counseling and working directly with physicians, they are relying on the Technicians to manage the daily activities of the pharmacy.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, employment of Pharmacy Technicians is expected to “grow faster than average” for all occupations over the next 10 years. Additionally the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) reports that about 60% of technicians that pass the national examination will receive higher pay rates.  At St. Louis College of Health Careers, our Pharmacy Technician Program was created based on the PTCB recommendation for course content that will provide graduates the best opportunity to pass the certification exam.  We want to give you the tools to succeed at the highest level!

A formal education at St. Louis College of Health Careers and certification demonstrates a technician’s interest in and dedication to the work.  Make that extra commitment and investment in your future and watch the doors of opportunity open!
